Professional Bio
Sherkiya Wedgeworth is an award-winning editorial leader with more than 20 years of experience leading digital and magazine-style publications serving diverse audiences across digital, broadcast, and professional media. Throughout her career, she has directed editorial strategy, managed newsroom operations, edited complex and technical content, and translated policy, healthcare, and public affairs issues into accessible, engaging journalism.
Most recently, Sherkiya served as Managing Editor of Accountability and Outreach at Colorado Public Radio, where she led editorial planning, coached reporters and editors, guided the nationally recognized Source Matters source-tracking initiative, and helped strengthen audience trust through thoughtful, impactful journalism. She also served as Executive Producer of "Real Talk with Denver7," overseeing editorial development, production, and cross-platform storytelling.
Earlier in her career, she spent nearly a decade as Online Managing Editor at 1105 Media, leading editorial strategy and digital publications for one of the nation's largest online communities serving federal employees.
Sherkiya believes journalism is a public service and is passionate about mentoring journalists, fostering inclusive leadership, and building stronger relationships between newsrooms and the communities they serve.
