Marc Lacey, Managing Editor of the NYT, to give welcoming remarks at OJAs

The Online News Association (ONA) is excited to announce that Marc Lacey will give welcoming remarks at the 2026 Online Journalism Awards celebration in New York City on October 1, 2026. 

Marc Lacey is the managing editor of The New York Times, where he oversees our coverage across the world and across the country. In two decades at The Times, Marc has held a variety of editing and reporting roles.

Marc, a former Phoenix bureau chief, was the national editor during Covid, overseeing a large team of correspondents across the United States. He's also overseen efforts by The Times to expand in California, Texas and other parts of the United States.

Previously, Marc worked at the Los Angeles Times, Buffalo News and Washington Post. He participated in coverage of the Los Angeles riots in 1992 and the Northridge earthquake in 1994, both of which won Pulitzer Prizes for spot news reporting. He's also covered local police, school boards and city councils. A graduate of Cornell, he started in journalism at the Cornell Daily Sun, where he was editor in chief
