ONA Proud to be Founding Partner of Inaugural Local News Day

The Online News Association (ONA) is proud to be a Founding Partner of the inaugural Local News Day on April 9, 2026. Local News Day will launch as a nationwide, coordinated effort to reconnect people with trusted local news outlets. This is a day for people to celebrate trusted local news and the vital role it plays in daily life.

Newsrooms, organizations and community leaders across the country will show support for local journalism on this day of action. Communities will have opportunities to learn how to support their local news outlets through subscriptions, support and meaningful engagement.

As a Founding Partner, ONA supports this movement and the opportunity for millions of people to connect with their local news outlets, stay informed and actively engage in their communities. ONA’s support for Local News Day reflects our commitment to strengthening journalism, building trust with audiences and fostering resilient newsrooms.
